Standing in Sumter National Forest (South Carolina), I decided to record what I was hearing. I have never done a sound recording of nature.
I realized after I played this back, that I was listening but not really hearing.
I didn’t realize the wind was talking so much.
And I didn’t hear the owl until later. She is 1 minute and 4 seconds into the video.
It’s like some of the voices of nature just rolled right over me. But capturing this in a way I could listen to more closely, was like seeing things in a still-shot that I didn’t realize were there all along.
