Drumming

Unwind! Drumming is a great way to release tension, stress, and helps with pain. It boosts mood and improves the immune system while lowering blood pressure. I enjoy the sense of connectedness to my group when we are all drumming together.

To begin our drum session, our teacher leads us in box breathing, also known as square breathing.

To start: Exhale all the air from your lungs through your mouth. Then,

  • Slowly inhale to the count of four through your nose.
  • Hold for four counts.
  • Exhale slowly to the count of four through your mouth.
  • Hold for four counts.

Repeat this cycle four times.

When we all synchronize, it is easy to close our eyes and meditate on the rhythm we are creating together.
