Hundreds of people were arrested in ICE raids this week which left children without their families. I don’t know about you, but this doesn’t have the face of justice.

It really is. The power that is, moving without thought or reason, without concern for the welfare and value of others … is something I thought might be left behind in the pages of holocaust history. But that would be intelligence. To see history, and learn from it.
Watching these videos gave me the same feelings as when I watched “The Hiding Place.” One Step At a time, a population becomes numb to its own humanity and the humanity of others. Those who find this acceptable now fail to realize that monsters ruled by taking one horrific step at a time. Slowly. It looked innocent and needed in small doses. So it wasn’t noticed so much. So people could stay numb and comfortable, until it was too late.

I don’t think we can afford to think things like the Holocaust are behind us. I heard something being said about this recently. And yes, numb is it exactly. Our country is dealing horrifically with the refuge situation and its a case of human rights abuse that is why personal and collective protest and calling it out is so important.

And Latino culture is so family-centered, so I can’t see that any point was made by this other than, the powers that be are monsters. My kids were raised in Latino culture and I know we all were relieved when someone would get their green card. Family is everything.
