As quoted in When Elephants Weep: The Emotional Lives of Animals” by Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson and Susan McCarthy

“If I learned anything from my time among the elephants” writes the scientist Douglas Chadwick, “It is the extent to which we are kin. The warmth of their families makes me feel warm. Their capacity for delight gives me joy. Their ability to learn and understand things is a continuing revelation for me. If a person can’t see these qualities when looking at elephants, it can only be because he or she doesn’t want to.”

Animals play important roles in our lives, our health and our world. I can’t think of anything that is more therapeutic than our animal alies. We watch them, live with them, rescue them (ASPCA), (HSUS), (Sheldrick Wildlife Trust), listen to their voices, and are entertained and amused endlessly by their antics.

They offer companionship, support, and comfort.

Due to animals that fulfill service roles, such as Service Dogs, many people have a much higher quality of life. Service dogs and horses are being included more and more into modern medical treatments as complimentary therapies. Caleb’s Story

The beautiful documentary, Our Planet, also makes us more aware of our part in the care of our world and all who live in it.

Oh this is lovely! Our animal friends are beautiful, sentient beings. We know lizards are, maybe this applies to even snakes. I have witnessed twice, with no doubt, 2 spiders showing maternal instincts. Despite ultimate disturbance, they hopped upon their egg sacs & refused to leave them. I love that you inserted links for others to help animals. When I clicked on “Shelrdrick Wildlife Trust” & saw the men helping the elephant stabbed with a spear, it reminded me how these wonderful people are risking their lives to patrol lands to prevent poaching, because the poachers will hurt them to get the animals to get that black market money. They do need more funding.

That’s so amazing that even with spiders you see caring traits… they just know. Of course, we know lizards are angels with four legs as well! And tails 😊 Sheldrick is my favorite and I read the book. It is really amazing to see all the work they have done with animals and how they began. I’m so glad you enjoyed as well! 🦎💛 🐘
