    Mindful Moment

Ripples … Finding Sanctuary in the Moment

    Georgia Swamplands

This place doesn’t mind being forgot.

    It cares not.

Time moves forward here without being pushed. It’s the natural way to move so subtle and slow.

    Letting it flow.

No greeding or hoarding of supplies to survive. Without thought…

    It lives to thrive.

No wonder we step away to remember again, there’s more to us than the rush and the fuss.

A space to contemplate, instead of cuss.

Leave it all in this moment we find. Then rejoin your life,

    With a clearer mind.

    A Friend in Me

    Making music in the down-time!

My son played this for us a few months ago, but for those of us who enjoy applying our musical skills to spin out well-known tunes on various instruments, or appreciate those who do… it’s a nice way to use our creativity while we are away from work or away from our regular activities with others. Despite the distance for many of us, we are close in heart and spirit!

Ten Things That Make Me Happy Tag

I want to thank Mr. Holliman from A Happy Life for tagging me in this happy tag. I am thankful and honored. If you have a few minutes, check out his blog for great recipes and inspiration.

There are a lot of things that will make you happy.

Ten things that make me happy tag rules:

    1. List 10 things that make you happy. (Linking to them, sharing pictures, writing poems about them, telling jokes, etc. are all encouraged but not required.)

    2. Tag some people who make you happy (and notify them of their tag).

10 things that make me happy:

    1. A healthy diet

Food is our first, most basic medicine. It just feels good to eat good food!

    2. Good Rest

Adequate sleep is good for your immune system.

    3. Vitamin-C

Since I started taking vitamin c regularly, I have been 10-years free of chronic tonsillitis and sore throats.

    4. Reiki

A Japanese stress-relieving therapy that aids the body’s natural healing abilities and helps with mood regulation.

    5. Meditation

It’s the variety! There are probably as many ways to meditate as there are people!

    6. Reading

Reading is a great therapy. It is stepping away into a different space … an emptying of sorts. Then, anchoring and filling the mind with a new focus for a time. Hey, it sounds a bit like meditation!

    7. Mantras

What do you think about while chanting mantras? The words you are saying and the intention behind them I hope! It is having a focused mind with a specific intent – while speaking in the language of energy. Hmmm, sounds meditative. And effective!

    8. Transporting Disabled Veterans

It feels like such a small thing at times, but it’s pretty big for those who can’t get to the doctor on their own. In its own way, it touches lives – and not just theirs. It brings some wild stories and wild rides – with a huge assortment of unforgettable memories, names and faces.

    9. Blogging

My feelings on blogging have been very diverse. They have ranged from:

    • How do people do this every day?
    • It seemed like a good idea at the time.
    • Do I have to?
    • I just made 50 straight days of posting, how about that!
    • I think I like this!
    • Just keep posting, just keep posting, swimming, swimming… (oh that’s Dory) posting!
    • This has become a “thing”
    • Who would I be if I didn’t blog?

It will be my one-year anniversary blogging in April and it’s been quite a journey … it has been its own Pilgrimage.

    10. Tribe

It’s a different way of being and thinking for some. It’s about so many things done in the spirit of togetherness… it’s never an option to step away for too long. Separateness is only by circumstance, and togetherness is always the goal.

    Jed

Hi, my name is Jed. I had to go into the hospital today to have a life-saving procedure done. I couldn’t stay home as others are doing. I got to the hospital, and there were very few people there. Everyone wore masks and gloves. Everything smelled like it had been wiped down with disinfectant. And I was grateful. Because, even though I couldn’t stay home, others are, which makes it safer for those of us who cannot, for whatever reason, do so. It protects medical staff who cannot stay home and it protects patients who need to be there.

I want to say, “Thank You!” to all the people out there who are working to protect themselves and others.

    Thank you,

    Jed

This story is fiction, but it was running around my mind, so I gave it a voice.

I wish it need not have happened in my time

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.

“So do I,” said Gandolf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

    A Meditation

    Staying in More

During this time, we are out less. We could think “isolated” or we could think, “Protect and Prevent.” I guess it’s all in how we see it.

We could see it as more time spent with home or family. It’s good food cooked at home, time for board and card games, or catching up on some family movies.

We could notice. How often do we really stop and listen and see.

We’re noticing the tension in our world and especially, we see those of us who are out in the thick of it, day in and day out. There are gloves and masks and hand sanitizer along with, “keep your distance.” They screen me entering the hospitals and rest homes. And, I’m glad for the precautions taken. It’s a different world though isn’t it?

What do we do, finding that we have extra time on our hands, while also finding that today is a very different day than even a few days ago… I wish that the reasons the world has slowed down were different ones. And, I wish that the world slowed down more often for better ones. Why does it take critical times for us to slow our pace?

With that in mind, here is a meditation to sooth the body, mind, and spirit. As we send our healing light out into the world, may our souls also find peace and rest.

Stay in when you can. Find some zen. Prevent and protect! 🌟

Peek-a-Boo! Love, Peanut Peek-a-Boo! Love, Peanut

    First mistake?

I was looking at Haibun examples.

Investigation yielded, what has become, my new word: perplextigation.

There are so many different ways of writing Haibun, which I’ve never written before. Some have short lines and others have paragraphs. It’s a bit confusing but I believe this is some form of it… or not even close!

    To perplextigation!

    Peek-a-Boo!

Snuggled, warm she peeks from the shelter of contentment, peace found in the timeworn cocoon of blanket and child. The most frayed of symbols offers endless moments of the assured, inner-state of wellbeing…

    Hugs within gentle folds, soothed

    Her weathered abode

    Frozen in Time

Water flows, always on the move.

Ever changing, what does it prove?

Then it stands still – for a moment in time,

Like a looking glass, we look and we find.

What has been flowing – is now still.

What was up – now pointing downhill.

Past echoes, future sight – drumming.

The sun is coming, the sun is coming…
