Large stingray moves through the water gracefully

I’ve always been fascinated at how stingrays look like they are flying through the water with such grace and ease. They navigate the watery realms or lay hidden down below – watch your step please!

While a run-in with a stingray has the potential to be deadly, they normally act kind and gentle around humans. It’s only when a stingray feels threatened that divers have a reason to worry.

So do watch your step!

Stingrays are really cool. They have a petting pool at the Kansas City zoo, and the rays would swim right up to us for a pat, then zoom away. 🙂

My husband once “met” a stingray on a scuba diving trip … and he also said that the stingray seems to float through the water (I suppose it’s almost the same as flying) 😉.

When threatened or stepped on, rays may react defensively by flicking their tails. That is why the injuries are usually in the foot or ankle. Great photos.
