    Thanksgiving Road Trip

    by Beth Haley

    Wide open spaces,

    There are very few faces.

    As the sun goes down,

We’re driving from yet another town

This chapter of our journey took us through the rest of Arkansas and on through Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

    Thanksgiving Road Trip

Today was a longer travel day than usual. Peanut, the Road Warrior Chihuahua, rode her way through South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas.

  • Meditation Medicine

    Meditation Medicine

The words “meditation” and “medication” sound almost identical. If you switch out the c for a t they’re the same word. Meditation comes from the Latin root, meditatus, which means to think, pay attention to, or contemplate. It is similar to the Latin root (medicina) for Medicine meaning “art of healing.”

    Meditation as Medicine

“Not only does it change the way our brain works, it actually is almost like going to the gym – you’re actually building new connections and we can see on a brain scan structural changes after just eight weeks of meditation, and so you see an increase in density in a part of the brain that actually is associated with happiness, that’s associated with being able to make better decisions in our lives... and it also shrinks the part of our brain responsible for the stress response.”

    -Jamie Zimmerman

    Starting your Meditation Practice

Some things to keep in mind as you begin your own meditation practice are:

    Determine your why

Start with baby steps (5-10 minutes a day is better than an hour, once a week)

Choose what kind of meditation style resonates with you (Guided, silent, focusing on your breath, taking a journey with images and music)

    Make the Commitment

Join a group or start your own

“I think when we really quiet our minds we start to hear our hearts.”

    -Jamie Zimmerman

“The longest journey you will ever take is the 18 inches from your head to your heart.”

    —Andrew Bennett

“Each moment of our lives is like a grain of sand, part of a finite supply. Each moment is unspeakably precious.” – Jamie Zimmerman

  • Mail Candy

    Mail Candy

Guest writer, Alysia Burrows, writes about her life-long love of books, which has also been a love of mine for as long as I can remember.

For those who love swapping books as much as we have: Paperbackswap.com

    by Alysia Burrows

When I was a young girl, I found solace in books.  We moved to so many new places and I just never felt like I truly fit in to any of them.

I am not sure when the world of books was introduced to me, or how.  I just know that as early as third grade they swept me away and took me to a better place.

Reading has always been my way of hiding away when times were at their worst.  It was as if I no longer existed in this world and it was how I coped with the challenges and pain life often has a way of bringing.

Today I love to read all the genres, and books have a special place in my heart.  I read them on my tablet, listen to them in my car, but my most favorite book is the old-fashioned kind.

My best friend and I would refer to them as “mail candy” when we would do a book swap through the mail and the arrival of them would bring us instant joy.  It still does to this day.

He loved books, those undemanding but faithful friends.

    Go with Chocolate

    by Beth Haley

Today, medical transport took me to Alabama. The journey starts out by picking a van for the trip. When I got to the lot, I saw that my choice was easy: go with the chocolate! Txx Bert! 😊

Good Day, Afternoon, or Evening.  Laura, of “Lauravent69”, Paula, of “Light Motifs II” and “Beckie’s Mental Mess” agreed about the following Topic of Human Trafficking.

Please read Laura’s original post here:  http://lavent69.blog/2019/11/14/human-trafficking/

What if we all did our part and shared photo’s of missing persons, do you realize that this would make it around the world and bring more awareness to a despicable crime that is happening all over this world on a daily basis?  We need to step in and help law officials and help these individuals gain their lives back and be back with their families.

    Earth-Shaker

    by Thela 🦊 Foxgood

His brothers are Zeus and Hades.

He travels from his bejeweled coral palace below the watery depths and rides his chariot up to Mount Olympus. He is the myth-god of the watery expanses and pathways, and navigator-guide for many a captain’s journey. When he strikes the earth with his trident 🔱 spear, the earth shifts and shakes. Mythical god of the sea and protector of water – salt and fresh. He is the bad-tempered storm upon the rolling waters and the thunder of horse’s hooves pounding through the crashing waves and wind.
